Akira Back
The Henderson's First Restaurant Makes Its Debut!

Globally acclaimed Korean-American chef Akira Back brings his eponymous restaurant Akira Back to Hong Kong! The menu fuses bold Japanese, Korean, and American flavors, showcasing innovative dishes elevated by the chef’s signature house-made sauces for unexpected taste sensations. Must-try classics include the iconic AB Tuna Pizza—crispy thin crust topped with fresh tuna sashimi, truffle aioli, and white truffle oil, reimagining pizza in a revolutionary way. Other crowd favorites include the signature roll Brother from Another Mother (unagi with eel tempura, citrus aioli, and foie gras) and rock shrimp tempura. For mains, the 48-hour slow-cooked wagyu short rib stands out—drawing inspiration from the chef’s mother’s traditional Korean galbi jjim, this Australian wagyu is meticulously prepared sous-vide to deliver refined, melt-in-your-mouth texture.
Desserts are equally show-stopping: the baked apple spring roll with cinnamon cream cheese offers refreshing contrast, while the AB cheesecake reinvents the classic with layered ladyfingers infused with oolong tea mascarpone and espresso gelato—a perfect finale to the culinary journey.
Interior Design: A Feast for the Senses
Designed by the internationally renowned firm AB Concept, Akira Back begins with a dramatic water tornado-inspired rotating installation at the entrance, ushering guests into an artistic dining experience. The main dining area unfolds like a visual symphony, with fluid lines echoing the iconic architecture of The Henderson. A dedicated sushi counter allows diners to watch chefs in action up close. Walls are adorned with artwork by the chef’s mother, Young Hee Back, infusing the space with personal warmth and cultural resonance.
